After completion of our film we took on the process we burned the video onto a disc which would bwe used in our film festival. We also started to evaluate an excisting marketing campaign. I spent my time looking at the simpsons movie. This included looking at the logo, trailer and the website. I made a power point presentation on these aspects and learnt by exploring this it would make it easier for me to create a successful campaign. We also looked at target audiences and created a profile about our films target audience. This profile was about young adults and the type of film taste they have and whether our film will cater to there standards.

By the end of this week we had finished editing our film and had decided to use two different songs these were:
Naive – Jem Cooke
I Feel Like Dying – Lil Wayne
The reason for this song choice was because both were emotional songs and the song Naive was relevant to the film’s name. We also picked I feel like dying as the song is about drugs and death which fits into my dramstic storyline about who girl who loses her dad to drugs and just wants to be like him. Overall I feel the final outcomes of the video have proved to be strong and very successful. I feel that the film should be shown to the target audience of young adults and that the narrative of the film is put across cleverly and carefully so everybody understands the situation.

This week we started editing our short film. We have nearly finished the editing all we have to do is add the music at the beggining and at the end of the film. So far the film has had a very strong and successful outcome and is sharp and quick to get to the point of the story. The only main problem that we faced was that we decided to re-film apart of the film which was when the main character recieves a text message. This reason for this is that you cannot see the message on the phone screen. We also edited the sound levels to make the voice overs alot louder than the background noise which makes it film more powerful. After this we moveed on to the next task which was to think of a variety of questions so we can interview a marketing campaigner that was coming into class to speak to us about her job. I thought of a total of nine different questions to ask. Overall our film is almost complete we are just pending on a decision in which music will be used in our video.

This week we filmed our whole video on Thursday 12th March. This was a very new proccess for me as I have never created a short film before during this exprience I realised how frustrating it can be to direct a film as it can be a struggle to stop people from laughing alot of the time and you also have to retake shot’s a number of different times to get them to be perfect. After it taking four hours to completely record my short film with no mistakes. We then spent Friday loading the footage onto pinnacle studio to start the editing process in which we will be following our storyboard and making extra changes to make the video completely successful. Overall this is a great start to the film as we just have to edit it together and evaluate our ideas and final film which will be shown in our film festival.

We continued to discuss in our group about our film we talked and created a variety of minutes this included discussions about film names, music to be used in the film and who would play which character. We also discussed possible filming locations this included the choice of either a house, on a street or to use both and also if we filmed on a bus how easy it would be to make this work successfully first time round. We also got on to the subject of filming props as we would need to use immitation drugs and what we could create these from. We fianlly decided to use immitation cocaine and we would create this from either sugar or flour. We then finalised that Lisa would play the main character and her cousin would be the drug dealer. We also decided to call our film “Naive” as the main character is very naive. The final point that we talked about which was music this will be decided after the editing process when we could finalise our choice as we would have to investigate which song suited the film best. We also created a stript and storyboard so the planning proccess was completely ready. The last thing we did this week was plan a date to film our movie this would take place on the following Thursday.

The week was the first week back from half term after creating our ideas and pitching them to our class before the end of term. I have thought about my idea in more depth and decided that the use of voice-overs may also make the video more interesting. We then went onto creating a questionnaire to find out what people think about short film festivals we made this from the knowledge about the short film festival we attended earlier in the year. We then printed out a test questionnaire to see if it would work and switched this around with different memebers of the class. Once the questionaire had been filled out we switched back and gave constructive criticism to find out how successful it had been. Overall my questionnnaire had a couple of unnecessary questions which I will change carry on editing to make sure the questionaire is strong. We then choose what films were going to be made in which my film was chosen. I was placed in a group with Lisa and Kerri and from this we started to create and talk about improvements and how we wanted to film my short film. These discussions were noted down (minutes) and used to help make my short film more successful by putting a mixture of ideas to make an impact on the final film. Overall the week was successful and alot was achieved I felt it was a good week to find out and expand my ideas further.

During this week we worked on a task that looked at copyright laws in this task we looked at the laws and explained them out using examples and what you can and cannot do with certain films e.g. using a song in your video. I felt confident about this certain task and carried it out as asked with no struggle or any problems but also found myself finding out about a few copyright laws in which i didn’t know about. After this we started focusing on our short film which is main core to this unit we were all asked to produce an idea which we felt would be effective and then pitch our idea to the class explaining what we would like to do and why our idea should be chosen. For my idea I decided that I wanted my film to be about a girl who talks about how much she loved her Dad and how she wants to follow in his footsteps and then at the end of the film you find out that her Dad died of a drug overdose and she takes drugs to be like him. I pitched my idea to the class and the overall response was successful. Many of the class felt this was a successful idea and that the idea would be easy to make although some of my class wasn’t a hundred percent and felt that it could be offensive to some of the people that watched it. Overall I felt this week was successful and I have a greater insight in what I have to do for my short video.

I did work experience at Envy Post Production House at Rathbone Place. There I worked as a runner. I had the tasks of making hot drinks and food, picking up food orders and running tapes to different buildings. I then sometimes got the opportunity to go and sit in some of the studios and have a go at using the software. I had the chance to go into a library and find out how the library works and how they look after all the tapes. I also went to a sound studio in Margaret Street where they were putting in additionals sounds to ‘Meet The Natives.’
I then also was able to go to a colour correction/grading studio and adjusted the colours so the picture was perfect. I was then allowed a try and using the deck to adjust the photo.
My day started at 10.00 am on the first week and 9.00 am on the second week and I ended everyday at 5.00 pm.

For task ten, I have chosen to present my work on michel gondry. A famous television music video producer. I found his work fantastically strange and i found that presenting my work in front of class was a lot easier than at the beggining of the year. I have trust in my class much more too as working as a group enables you to rely on people aswel as yourself. I feel that my class has improved greatly on this..
